WordPress Tutorial for Beginners

A beginner’s guide to using WordPress. **Instructions for uploading your test theme to the Internet** Navigate to your themes folder on your computer which is located in [InstantWPfolder]/ipwserver/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/themes Upload that folder to the wp-content/themes folder on your server using an FTP program OR just upload it from the WordPress Admin panel in the Themes section. Now activate the new theme.

    Great Video Lisa! Very practical! I sent the link to this video and your facebook page to a friend who just created a free word press blog. I encouraged my friend to start following your page and get a self hosted WordPress blog through website palace. I told them It’s easier to get the domain name and the hosting at the same place so you don’t have to mess with transferring the domain. 🙂

    Thank you so very much! I just started with WordPress (bought the Elegant Themes package), and was wondering how to work with the site on my computer instead of online, which is so tedious.     After you install the instant wordpress or mamp & mamp pro on to the computer. Whatever you published or uploaded using the software on the desktop. Will it effect what you see online compared to what you see on your software? I am a little bit confuse on that part, Cheers

    @gqversace All of the style.css changes will be the same live but any theme specific customizations that you did in the control panel will need to be done live. For example if your theme lets you change colors or column widths in the admin panel, you’ll have to make those changes live. But if you edit the style.css file or any of the theme files, those will already be live.

    I just got host and domain at websitepalace….But I don’t see an option to get wordpress like you did. It’s asking me to pay money. Please help? Did I do something wrong.
