In the last part, we told you how to become a reputed member at webmaster forums. The key is to make informative posts. Yup, its that easy and simple. Here we are gonna tell you something about itraders, which is another way how the reputation of a member is calculated. The more itraders you have, the more reputed you are.

What’s the point in getting reputation and being a reputed member. You might have already asked yourself the above question while you were reading about- how to increase your reputation at a webmaster forum. Being a reputed member has a lot of benefits. Whenever reputed members say something, they are not offended like the posts of new members. You can see it yourself in any webmaster forum. Not just that, your viewpoints and ideas will be noted by the newbies out there. Even experts may follow you if they find you are worth to be followed. This way, the websites or blogs that you are promoting in your signature will also get a large number of clicks. Just think, will you click on the signature link of a new member with just one post? The chances are very low. But what if the member is with more than 3000 posts and with all reputation blobs filled? Chances are that, you’ll be clicking the signature links of that member. But why? That’s because, experts are always experts and we will surely be getting something to learn from them.

Okay, now it’s time time to tell you something about itraders. These are reputation points that members share with each other, after a trade, purchase or a sale. Itraders of members won’t be seen in the posts that they have made outside the BST section of the forum. BST section is the Buy, Sell, Trade section. This is found in many of the reputed forums like DP, V7n, Netbuilders etc. You can increase your itrader count only by dealing with more and more members. Either you should be buying something, trading something or selling something.

How to become a webmaster? (Part – 7)

This is the seventh part of our “How to become a webmaster” series. In the earlier parts, we have studied things like what is a webmaster forum, how to create an account in a webmaster forum, the different parts of a webmaster forum, earning money by selling forum signature etc. Now its time to learn something advanced.

One of the main aims of a webmaster should be to create some reputation over at webmaster forums. Let’s take the case of DP (digital point forums). Here, the reputation of a member is decided based on the reputation blobs the member has got. New members start with one blob. Reputation blobs are small blocks in green color that you’ll see on the right side of each member’s posts. On the right side, there will be total number of posts, join date (the date on which the member joined the forum) and also the reputation blobs. New members will be with just one blob. A member with all the reputation blobs, fully filled are extremely useful members of the forum and they are treated as reputed members. So, how can you become a reputed member just like them?

You can also become a reputed member just like them. It’s not that tough as it might seem. The blob count will go on increasing based on the number of quality posts you make in the forum. But it’s not an automated process. If someone likes your post, he may give you a +1 rating for your post. On the other hand, if they don’t like, then they may give a negative rating. This way, while you keep on contributing to the forum, you’ll see your reputation points and reputation blobs increasing. But, sometimes you may not get any rating for your post even if it’s a damn great one. Only if someone likes it and gives it a rating, you’ll get one. Not all members at DP rate posts even if they like them. Its not because they don’t want to make others reputed, but it’s because they are not used to it. But there are members who always rate posts that are informative. So, keep posting informative things. Soon you will see the number of blobs in your profile increasing.

Getting traffic is not something impossible. If you have time to spend online for your sites, then you’ll be getting traffic free of charge. First of all, you should make the habit of reading blogs regularly. This will make you comment on posts. This in turn, will give backlinks and traffic to your sites. This is just one of the many ways to get free traffic to your sites.

I know you’ll be having a lot of other methods in your minds. But don’t go for spamming – it’s not good in the long run – it can even create a bad impression on your sites as well. Why should you be doing all those spamming works, if you can get traffic easily, the natural way. Online communities can bring in a lot of traffic to your sites. People have a natural tendency to visit others sites. And this is something which we should make use of. You should be staying active in various online communities helping others and interacting with others. You won’t be feeling as if you are doing these things for driving traffic to your site. But it’ll be easy and fun for you.

After you create a good reputation over online communities, then slowly you can start to promote your sites. Again, don’t go for spamming online communities. Why can’t you do things the right way? There will be places to enter your website urls – enter at just those places! Yeah, doing just that, won’t bring you decent traffic – you should find some other ways as well. If you have accounts in forums, then you would have come across signatures and other such stuffs. Promote your website links using the signature spots.

You can try orkut, facebook, myspace and other such online communities as well. Once you join these sites, you’ll surely be meeting people like you – who have registered there with the primary aim of promoting their sites. After staying active at these sites for a week or two, you’ll start learning their tricks and tips without they even telling you. So, don’t bother to ask them personally, you’ll come to know about them automatically. Just wait and see.
