WordPress Themes – Should You Use Premium Or Free Themes

WordPress Themes – Should You Use Premium Or Free Themes?

You have probably heard the saying: Nothing good in life is free! WordPress offers many free themes, plugins, and widgets, but you will want to pay attention to the possible downfalls of using a free WordPress theme.

The first concern is what may be hidden or embedded in the code built within your theme. No matter how you are using your WordPress blog, the last thing you want to do is attach potential spam to your visitors. Unfortunately, some of the WordPress themes do have some sort of spam built into the theme. Also, the more elaborate theme creators may have embedded the spam so deep that if you try to remove it your entire site will fail.

You can expect that premium themes – or those you pay for – will usually be free of spam. After all, a designer likely would not embed spam because they have a reputation to uphold.

A second reason for using a premium theme is that you will have support from its creator. Since anyone can create and make available free themes, designers will not usually help with your problems regarding that free theme. WordPress has attempted to improve this issue by creating forums to seek help, but fixing or changing the site will be up to you.

Since designers of premium themes are paid for their design, they want to be sure it works and will usually be available through a dedicated forum or have another method that they can be contacted.

A third potential problem of using a free WordPress theme is that it often will not support the widgets or plugins you would like to use.

Designers of premium WordPress themes generally stay in contact with their users. They listen to the issues and make fixes available through upgrades. Since the designers know who has purchased their themes, they are able to send out notification of upgrades through e-mails.

Please understand that I am not stating that every free WordPress theme is full of spam. I am only suggesting that you should be aware of these possibilities and do some research before you jump on the first theme you come across. Also, using the themes offered from the WordPress Dashboard are generally safer than something you might find from surfing the internet.

If you are just beginning as a new business or blog writer, using a free theme available from WordPress may be your best solution to get your site up and tested. But as your blog or business grows, consider upgrading to a premium theme. This will give you a site that is more user and owner friendly without worrying about spam or support.

How-to-become-a-webmaster-Part1

How to become a webmaster? (Part – 1)

Before you move any further, you should be registering at some webmaster forums. I’d recommend you to register at the top 2-3 webmaster forums rather than registering at just one. But why to register at those sites? I know you’ll be asking that question.

Webmaster forums are sites where you’ll find experienced webmasters. What are they doing there? They’ll be either promoting their business, or simply helping others. By helping others, their reputation is gonna increase, and they will be also getting some other benefits. We’ll discuss those things some other day.

So webmaster forums are just for experienced webmasters? Nope, not like that. There you’ll see people like you as well. They’ll be either learning things from other webmasters or practicing what they have learned. You can start by clearing your doubts. You’ll get surprised when you see, even new members replying to your queries. That’s because they might have already got answers to such questions from experienced webmasters out there when they asked those kinda questions earlier, when they were new there.

Don’t feel shy to ask questions. The questions that you might be feeling to ask may sound simple even for you. But, if you are having doubts, then you should ask them and clear those doubts the same moment. Only then, you’ll be able to become a successful webmaster. One thing to note is that – don’t spam the forum with questions that are already asked by others. Before you ask questions, its recommended to search for answers using the search facility provided in the forum. And even after visiting the threads started by others, if you’re still having doubts, then go ahead and clear your doubts by starting a new thread. Again, make sure that you are starting threads at the right place. There will be different sections in the site for discussing different topics like programming, business, blogging, search engines, marketing, search engine optimization etc. There will be a general section as well, where you’ll be able to ask general questions that don’t fit under any other section.

That’s all for now. Check out the next part for more.

How to Make Money Off Of Affiliates

How to Make Money Off Of Affiliates

Most bloggers who are blogging to make money already have some experience with affiliates most likely but for those of you who don’t an affiliate is simply someone who sells a product for someone and receives a commission. You can also get leads that pay money too and this can actually be easier in the beginning and I would recommend that if you’re new you work with getting leads rather then sales. People are more inclined to join something free then to buy something, especially off of a new blog which doesn’t have too much reputation so for the first while stick with leads. I actually wouldn’t even introduce affiliate sales or leads into your blog until at least one month after you begin it. Also it’s only one month if you post everyday if you post less frequently then give it a couple months before introducing affiliates. The last thing you want to do is bombard all your new readers with affiliate ads, instead you want to first build up a readership and then move forward with affiliate ads.

Once you’ve decided to start working with affiliates you need to decide how you’ll go about the task. Some people will make a separate page for affiliates and list them all on one page so that it’s somewhat tucked away and then only people interested in the offers will have to look through them. Other people will add banners or links into their sidebar pointing to the affiliate and then others will make a new blog post with the affiliate lead or product. I find that creating a new post for the product or lead is the best way to go about getting sales, because this way you can write a review of the product and let people know a bit about what there buying. You’ll notice you get more sales from the products and leads that you offer some guidance or knowledge on rather then just posting a banner or link.

When you’re placing links on your blog that point to affiliate URL’s you should use a cloaking plug-in so that you can make friendlier URL’s. A lot of people won’t click links if they know it’s an affiliate link and it’s easy to tell because most affiliate networks use there URL to forward you to the affiliate product. There are plug-ins for WordPress which make this simple though and a quick Google search will do the trick for finding the right plug-in. I’ve noticed on blogs where I cloak my affiliate links up to 30% more action on the links then when I simply use the affiliate link normally and when you’re dealing with money 30% is a fairly large percentage.

That’s about all you need to do in order to display your affiliate links properly so that you can maximize your profits and apart from that all you should be concerned about is making sure the affiliate banners and links you use on your blog fit in the blog. Meanings don’t promote a shoe affiliate on a hat blog, only choose affiliate leads or products that are directly involved with your niche. Also ensure you don’t overdo any affiliate ads because people will quickly become turned off from your blog if everything is an affiliate ad. You should use them sparsely throughout the blog posts to make sure you don’t come off as someone just trying to make a quick buck. People are far more inclined to buy something off of someone who has taught them stuff through the content on the blog, so make sure you continue writing solid content and mix in the affiliate ads as you go.

blogging. Commercial blogging has been accepted as an effective way
of boosting the business of a company and that is one reason why
more and more companies are plunging in blogging to make some

money through commercial blogging is not a direct way of making
money. Commercial blogging can definitely help your business, but by
indirectly influencing the thoughts of the readers and potential clients.

Read on to find out how commercial blogging can help improve the
profits of your company:

Corporate blogs are the best way to interact with customers
and prospects

A corporate blog, if used efficiently can provide the best platform for
interaction with customers and prospects, which in turn will lead to
opportunities to create a positive impression and encourage them to
purchase your products or services.

Engaging employees with good corporate knowledge is ideal
for promoting services and products through blog

It is very important to engage loyal and knowledgeable employees to
blog on behalf of the company. It is very crucial for the success of the
commercial blog, as only such employees would go the extra mile to
impress upon the good qualities of the company on the readers. It is
also important that those employees have a passion for writing and
community building. The blogs written by such employees would make
the potential clients feel the sincerity hidden in the articles. In other
words, such positive impression would definitely lead to improved
business for your corporate.

Commercial blogs can be used as a powerful medium to
increase company’s credibility

While adding the blogs, it is very crucial to keep the primary goal of
the blog in mind, which almost inevitably is to up hold the reputation
of the company by increasing the credibility through the blogs. This
can be done effectively by replying sincerely to the feedback of the
clients on the blog. This will inevitably result in an impression of
enhanced customer service which in turn will encourage the customers
to continue their business with your company, which is nothing but
increased profits.

Update the blog regularly

By updating the blog regularly, you can be assured of continued
loyalty of the customers to your blog and hence to your products and
services. Regular visits by your readers imply that you will have ample
of opportunities to impress your customers with additional news and
information about your products and services.

Be openhanded with links

Like with any other form of blogging, the success of commercial
blogging greatly depends on the success of links. It always pays to be
liberal with links and back links to your corporate blog. This will result
in increased traffic which would lead to additional business.

Many big companies have recognized commercial blogging as a cheap
yet effective marketing tool. However, one of the biggest problems
with commercial blogging is that, the companies have to shell a lot of
money in avoiding articles or blogs which could hamper the reputation
of the company.

9 Essential WordPress Plugins For Every Blog

WordPressLapdance.com 9 Essential WordPress Plugins For Every Blog For every new blog that I install these 9 WordPress plugins are essential. There is no reason not to have them (until I find some better solutions!) and they are well worth installing yourself. So, here are my favourite plugins, in alphabetical order! Broken Link Checker – quite a simple trick with this plugin, it trawls through your posts and pages and detects links that are no longer working. Why? Well the aim is to prevent dead links in your posts, which can ruin your reputation with your readers and get you penalised with the search engines. FeedBurner FeedSmith – every blog needs an RSS feed – it generates more traffic. But by signing up to Feedburner and using this plugin to direct all RSS feeds via Feedburner, you can then see just how many people are using your RSS feed and which posts are proving the most popular. Limit Login Attempts – a very simple security plugin. If someone is trying to hack into your blog using brute force then this plugin detects their attacks and stops their attempts. It can email you with a warning and block them out for however long you want. Revision Diet – if you are like me then this plugin is essential! I will write a post and save it, read it and then save it, read it again and so on. If I am not careful then I can have dozens of versions of each post, which rapidly fill my database. This post just gets rid of all of those extra versions of the post that you don’t

Blog Link Building

Blog Link Building

Bloggers absolutely need to obtain backlinks on their blogs or they won’t ever result too much and there will be hardly any traffic. Ideally as your blog ages you should be getting search engine traffic and if you’re not then it’s probably due to not having enough backlinks pointing to your blog. You should not only work on getting backlinks for your homepage but also for important blog posts and pages. These are called deeplinks and help a lot when you’re trying to rank in the search engines. All of the search engines use different methods for ranking sites but one of the main techniques used is through backlinks. If you have a lot of relevant backlinks on the topic of your blog pointing to the posts and pages then you’ll generally have good search engine rankings. If you have only lousy links that aren’t even on topic with your blog then you will need to begin looking for some better ranking links so that you can then begin ranking better. Many forums can offer good link opportunities but you can also use many techniques to find high page rank links to get backlinks on.

You should start building links for your blog as soon as you begin posting on it and make sure though that you only use natural methods of building backlinks and none other or else you face the risk of getting banned by the search engines. Article submissions, social bookmarking and directory submissions are all things you should do in the early existence of your blog. Make sure you spread your time out amongst these different options so that you build links in many different areas. You should also become active on blogs in your niche so that you can begin gaining some reputation. It doesn’t take long for the owner of a blog to notice someone commenting daily on their blog and in most cases as long as you’re not spamming the owner will usually begin talking with you. This can result in future joint ventures and having relationships with the other bloggers in your niche is vital to the success of your blog.

There is never a time that you shouldn’t be looking to build links to your blog, but over time you’ll get help from that through link bait. This is where you post a good article or report on your blog and people link to it and post it on there blog. This can gain you hundreds of backlinks a day and is the most effective method to one way link building. Blogging is a ton of work and you haven’t already notice this then you soon will as you start building backlinks and having to post daily to your blog.

Try exchanging links with other bloggers in your niche, but make sure you don’t crowd your blog up too much with other people’s links. Try spreading the other people’s links across different pages so that it doesn’t eat away at your page rank juice. Only exchange links with blogs that are the same calibre as your blog and don’t accept a link exchange with a blog that isn’t updated.

Over time link building becomes easier and takes a lot less time but in the beginning you need to set-up the blog to ensure it will do well in the search engines. Building links is part of ensuring that traffic from the search engines is steady and this is why every serious blogger needs to allocate the right amount of time each day for building links.

Avoid Mistakes of Joint Ventures

As you already know, joint ventures are a lucrative agreement for all parties involved. After all, they have the sole purpose of creating profits so they have to succeed. You may want to find a partner right away and start on your marketing campaign so you can both start making a lot of money. But what you need to know before enterting a joint venture agreement are some mistakes to avoid.

All too often, as an affiliate marketer, you may find someone seeking a joint venture partner to market their product. They are even willing to pay above the competition. This may make you want to jump on the opportunity before someone else. After all, if you can make the same sales you are already making but at a higher cut, why not? The problem is, if you are not willing to research a little on the product, you may find that you are stuck endorsing and promoting a product that is not worth anyone’s time let alone yours. While you can surely drop the campaign once you do find this out, you risk tarnishing your reputation and rapport with your clients or users.

Alternatively, if you are looking for an affiliate marketer to enter into a joint venture project or a peer within your niche, you should make sure that you are not only offering them a nice cut in the deal but also a quality product. Ask yourself if you would be comfortable marketing the same product to your users and if your product is really worth endorsing. If you are cross-promoting with a fellow peer in your niche, you would want them to give you a high quality product. You do not want your name to be mud in your niche. Repeat customers and a loyal fan base are key to generating a guaranteed income. If you tarnish that relationship, you will find it hard to build it back up. As relationships with your customers are key, it is also important that your joint venture partner be a reputable one.

Joint ventures are often short time. Many times, they are used for you to get your foot in the door or to promote a new product. Once you have developed a client base, you no longer need help in promotion that joint ventures offer. Additionally, some relationships just do not seem to work out. Whether it be due to lack of luster or charisma or desire to be in the joint venture agreement any longer, you and your partner should forsee a potential break in the relationship and have an opt-out option for such a case. You want to be able to end the joint venture project amicably.

Joint ventures are the key to e-commerce success and promotions. If you have already weighed the pros and cons and come to the conclusion that a joint venture is the right venue for you, then all you have to do is assure that you approach them properly. A successful joint venture comes down to the overall structure of the team.
