As a blogger you’ll need a lot of content and typically to run a successful blog you’ll need to post at least once a day. In many niches like technology and entertainment you’ll find that the good bloggers make anywhere from five too twenty posts a day. Now if you’re a one man or woman show then you’ll know how much work it is too try and write twenty posts a day while still promoting the blog. It’s nearly impossible too do unless you spent all of your time everyday writing and promoting your blog. This isn’t usually an option because in most cases your blog won’t earn you a full time income.

If your blog is making money then I would recommend buying content because it will be much better quality then any free content that you get. In the beginning though you’ll want to resort to having people write free content for your blog, and then once it starts making money you can start implementing paid content that is of better quality.

To have people write for your blog for free it will take some work, and you’ll in most cases need to offer some sort of bonus or reward to the posters. The best way to offer people a reward is either through a contest or a revenue sharing plug-in. If you choose to run a contest on your blog for the people who offer content you’ll want to do it something like this. You should get ten great prizes that you post on a page of the blog, and you let everyone know on your blog that the people with the most posts will win these prizes at the end of each month. You’ll need to buy ten prizes each month for this method, but it’s a lot cheaper then buying content on a daily basis. If you have more then ten people posting and battling for the prized then you’re going to be well into the profits in no time. The goal is too get as many people posting on your blog each day as possible. If you choose that you want to run a revenue sharing plug-in then it’s really simple to do. All you need to do is activate the plug-in and allow people to register on your blog. Then when they post articles there Adsense will appear 50% of the time and your Adsense will appear the other 50% of the time. So you can make money off of their content with this method plus you’ll be filling up your blog with free content.

If your blog is new then you might not have the luxury of just making a post on the blog letting people know that they can win prizes or money for posting on your blog. You might need to go out around the internet and find people to post for you. The best place would be on forums in your niche, so for instance if you have a celebrity blog then you should try finding some teenagers in forums who will post on your forums in hopes of winning prized. It shouldn’t be too hard to find people on forums as there always looking for ways too win prizes and money online, especially if your niche is suitable for teenagers.

As you can see there are some great methods for getting free content on your blogs, so don’t think that your only options are paying someone too write the content or you yourself having to write the content. There are options for getting free content and in the beginning stages of your blogging career you should work on finding as much free content as possible. How to Engage your Blog Readers

How to Engage your Blog Readers If you have a flagship blog and you’re trying to build an audience of regular readers then you’ll need to be able to engage your blog readers. If you don’t engage your blog readers then they’ll never come back to your blog or join your RSS subscriber feed. There are different techniques that you can use to assist you in engaging your blog readers and we’re going to look at some of those methods. Engaging your blog readers has nothing to do with marketing or promoting your blog. It also doesn’t involve anything to do with link building or anything of this nature. To engage your blog readers it needs to be on-site improvements that you make and we’ll take a look at those now. Blog Post Titles You should make titles that aren’t just stuffed for the search engines as this isn’t very ideal for building a reader base. You need to build nice long detailed titles so that the readers knows exactly what you’re offering within that certain post, and then they can click it if they want to read about it. Your titles should also have some personality in them and not just some generic plain title lacking any personality. Blog Post Body The blog post itself should be broken down into smaller bits of information and the best way to do this is either with bullet points or sub-titles. This way it’s much easier to follow down the page and more readers will be inclined to read the information. You want people to find the information useful and they won’t be able to do that if they don’t even read the information you post about. Use a Picture Try breaking up the text up a little bit by implementing a picture into your blog posts. Try to also add your personality into the pictures you choose so that people can begin to adapt to who you are. To build a blog readership you need to show personality and become active within your blog community. Some blogs may also require more pictures in the blog posts, for instance the celebrity niche should have small galleries under each post as the best blogs do. WordPress Theme You should buy a wordpress theme that is customized for your blog as then you’ll stand out from the other bloggers and it will seem like you care about your blog. A nicely designed theme can attract many readers to stick around to see what information you offer. WordPress themes are very cheap as well so you won’t need to break the bank when buying a theme. These are some of the techniques you can use too engage your blog readers and have them coming back to your blog more then once. If you can build a readership then as long as you continue posting engaging and informational posts then the readers will stick around and you’ll grow further. This is the most profitable blog you could develop, but it also takes the most amounts of work and time to do.

Ways to Promote Your Blog

Bloggers have hundreds of different ways that they can use to promote their blogs and the more techniques utilized by the blogger the bigger chance that blogger has at having a successful blog. Since there are so many different options when promoting your blog I won’t be able to list them all here but I will aim to list some of them so that you can see some of the ways available to you when promoting.

One of the first methods you should use to promote your blog is by social bookmarking each and every one of your posts, this will help gain backlinks and also traffic to your blog so it’s a huge win-win for the blogger and I highly recommend it. It can be time consuming to submit to all of the social bookmarking sites but if you choose the top ten from an online list then you should be well on your way.

Another method you can use is article submissions which can be done quickly by yourself as you only need to submit to a few of the directories. A couple of the more popular options would be EzineArticles and GoArticles. Both of those places get a ton of traffic each day and they will help not only with backlinks but with bringing traffic to your blog.

You can also get active on other peoples blogs, preferably ones in your niche. You should comment as often as you can so that you gain a presence with the other bloggers in your niche. This can be important for in the future as your blog progresses you may find people wanting to exchange links.

Video marketing is another method that most successful marketers are using to gain the attention of millions of people. Youtube alone gets millions of people daily going to there site to watch videos so you can be sure a lot of people are watching videos and a lot of traffic can come from a well made video.

There are many hundreds of other promotion techniques that bloggers utilize to make their blogs successful and you’ll need to do more then the above to have a great blog, but by doing the above you’ll ensure a lot of steady traffic over time and a fairly decent blog. The above techniques are a great beginning and utilized with some other promotional and marketing tactics you’ll be well on your way to blogging for the big bucks. Don’t be shy about leaving your URL places but make sure it isn’t spammy looking or else most people will disregard your links and not click them. The less spammy the links look the more clicks you’ll end up receiving so fooling around with the placement of your links is a great idea.

How to Promote Your Blog

There are tons of methods to promote your blog and you shouldn’t limit yourself to only a few of these methods because to ensure a successful blog you need to utilize all of them. If you’re new to blogging then you don’t need to worry about using all the methods listed below right away but as time allows you should start implementing the methods listed below. Everyone says content is king, which is true because you’ll need awesome content in order to keep your visitors but without promoting your blog properly nobody will find your content that you’ve spent time writing. This is why I believe promotion is just as vital as the content you write because without people reading the content there is no point in writing it. I think many new bloggers get lost in the hype of writing killer content and then lose their way once they realize they have no traffic coming to the blog. You should make sure you have a good ten to twenty posts of solid content before promoting your blog, but once you hit that number of posts you need to start promoting right away, and frankly I begin using some of the methods below right from the get-go. The methods and techniques I list below will all be beneficial to your blog and you should work on implementing them as soon as possible.

Social Bookmarking

Bloggers have the ability to utilize social bookmarking everyday and if you want traffic you need to use them. I use them everyday when I post to my blogs and it doesn’t take long at all. There are hundreds of these social bookmarking sites to use, but since time is an issue for bloggers you should only use a handful of them on a daily basis. I typically use StumbleUpon, Digg, Reddit, Propeller and BlogsVine which only takes me about three minutes a day to submit my posts to. I’ve gotten over a thousand unique visitors some days from social bookmarking sites and you always get traffic coming from the sites for the life of your blog which is why I love using this method. It takes a few minutes a day to ensure that you get some daily traffic coming from these sites and although some people say that the traffic isn’t targeted I know for a fact that I’ve had some sales from social bookmarking in the past.

Article Marketing

Not only do bloggers need to write posts for their blog, but they also need to distribute articles across the internet so that people can find their blog. There are thousands of websites where you can post articles to and there are lots of great lists on the internet. If you only use one directory to submit your articles to then make sure it’s EzineArticles as they bring the most traffic to your blog. You simply write a 250+ word article and add your links at the bottom and submit it to the site. They have some guidelines which you need to follow, but there simple and can be found on their website. If you have time you should really be submitting articles on a daily basis to different directories. You shouldn’t limit yourself to only EzineArticles but if time only allows you to use one directory then use that one. If you have time though then submit articles to new directories each day. Typically I try submitting one article to EzineArticles and one article to another directory. I always switch the second directory around everyday so that I’m gaining links and exposure on different sites.

Buying Links & Blog Posts

Bloggers often buy links and blog posts to boost their search engine rankings and to gain exposure. Buying these types of advertising is beneficial as long as you’re buying the links on sites or blogs that don’t have tons of links and appear like a link farm. If you can find good sites and blogs to buy posts or links on then you should analyze the blog and see if it’s worth it. If the blog has a high page rank and a good authority in Google then buying a link or blog post would be great for boosting your search engine rankings which is ideal. Depending on how well the blog or site is known on the internet will reflect the cost, but you can find many great deals on the internet for links and blog posts. The main thing here is to remember to only buy links and posts on relevant sites or blogs meaning on the same topic as your blog, and you also need to ensure that the site or blog you’re buying a link or post on isn’t full of links.

There are still tons of other methods you can use to promote your blog but following these simple techniques will ensure you maintain a steady stream of traffic to your blog. Once you get into a routine of completing all of the above then you can start looking for other methods of promotion which can be anything that draws traffic to your blog. You need to get creative with your techniques to see maximum benefit and the more you do that your competitor doesn’t, the better chance you have of becoming more successful.
