The options for purchasing a single theme include:

Standard Package: your chosen theme plus 2 bonus themes. The license permits you to use the theme on as many websites as you want and you receive lifetime access to updates for all three themes. One-time fee is $70.
Developer Package: your chosen theme plus 3 bonus themes and PSD file. The license permits you to use the theme on as many websites as you want and you receive lifetime access to updates for all four themes. You can make any changes you like using the PSD file. One-time fee is $150.
Enterprise Package: select themes are Enterprise themes which include advanced features not found on other themes. No bonus themes are given but you do receive everything else that comes with the Developer Package, including the PSD files. One-time fee is $200.
The options for joining the club include:
Standard Subscription: unlimited access to all the themes plus at least 2 new theme releases every month. Access to support services and all theme updates is included. No PSD files for themes used. One-time start-up fee is $125, then the monthly club fee is $15.
Developer Club: the same terms as the Standard option, but you have access to PSD files for all themes. One-time start-up fee is $200 and monthly club fee is $20.

Woo Themes uses a private service for payment processing which accepts all major credit cards plus Paypal as long as you are paying in U.S. dollars. If you are signing up for a subscription service you will not be able to cancel the subscription on your own. You have to contact the company before the subscription is set to renew in order to have it cancelled.

10 Useful WordPress Plugins

10 Useful WordPress Plugins

We have been using WordPress for several weeks now and one of the things I love about this tool is the amount of plugins available. Everytime we want to do something new we just Google a few words and chances are we will find a WordPress plugin that does what we need. Another great feature is that since it’s open source we can easily change any plugin to suit our needs.

So here’s a list of a few plugins (no particular order) we use on a regular basis for our customers.

1 – TinyMCE Advanced

WordPress uses TineMCE as it’s WYSIWYG editor, this open source HTML editor is filled with features that are for most part hidden in WordPress. TineMCE advanced allows you to activate a few of theses features back on. For example the creation of tables and context menus within the editor. The user interface is simple to use, just drag and drop the features you want to activate.

2 – All in one SEO pack

SEO is an important part of your web design today, this plugin allows you to change the title, description and meta tags for your pages and posts.

3 – Exclude page from navigation

This plugin allows you to hide certain pages from your website navigation (menus) Useful if you want to create pages that are not accessible from any menus.

4 – qTranslate

Essential for all multilingual websites. qTranslate allows us to easely create multilingual posts and pages. Additional plugins have been created that uses the qTranslation functionality (Meta tag, Sitemap)

5 – Viper’s video quicktag

This plugin will add a toolbar in your editor that allows you to add different video formats (Youtube and friends) I like this plugin beacause it’s simple to use with youtube juste paste the url of the video page and voila!

6 – WP-Filemanager

This is my most recent discovery, creating a lot of themes for clients I always had to upload additional images to themes folders which took some time and was a pain. This plugin gives us a web base file browser so we can manage the files that are on our webserver.

7 – NextGen

NextGen is a picture gallery manager that offers a good user interface to manage your pictures. It comes with a few gallery layouts and several other plugins have been created that offers additional layouts. NextGen integrates itself in the editor toolbar so it’s easy to insert picture galleries in posts.

8 – Google XML sitemap

Great little plugin that creates an XML sitemap and submit’s it to Google. A sitemap is a file with the list of all your pages on your website. This file is used by search engines to help them scan your website pages.

9 – Google analytics

Allows us to include our Google Analytic javascript code in our website. One of the features I like of this version (because there are a lot of Google analytic plugins) is that we can paste the actual javascript code. This allows us to add other tracking code, for example quantcast, beezilla and so on, at the same time.

10 – Inline PHP

This one is a little more technical, it’s a plugin that allows us to include php server code within our posts and pages. Very useful for us programmers maybe a little less interesting for non programmers.

Is WordPress the Best Choice For a Content Management System?

Many of us will have a need for a Content Management System (CMS) at some stage in our Internet marketing careers. There are plenty for us to choose from on the market such as Drupal, Joomla and many others, but a lot of these require specific technical knowledge to use and are not intuitive.

Setting up a content management system can be a difficult thing to do without either hiring a techie or struggling to learn some unfamiliar software that takes hours to learn.

This of course, may not be ideal.

So what are your other options?

Most Internet marketers are familiar with a program called WordPress. It’s a favorite with marketers at the moment because it is easy to use, requires no technical knowledge and is quick to configure. Many of us are already using it somewhere within our Internet empire.

But is WordPress any good as a content management system?

It is incredibly powerful and very good as a CMS program. The only issue with WordPress is the lack of structure navigation. Setting up good and clear navigation is an issue with versions before V3, but the latest release (version 3) has a much better navigation system built in out of the box.

With a version such as 2.9.2 (the last before version 3) you can still use it as an effective CMS solution nusing some of the plugins that have been released.

The Yet Another Related Posts Plugin (or YARPP as it is better known) is a great plugin for allowing you to create relevant navigation menus for each post. By giving related posts the same tags, you can very easily create menus of related posts on your site. It’s not the best solution, but it works and is very effective and easy to use.

Another useful plugin to help with your navigation is the Exclude Pages From Navigation plugin. This will give you the choice to hide pages from the navigation menus, which is very useful. It means you can create pages and not have them appear by default in navigation menus.

Let’s not forget that you can create custom page templates within WordPress and set up custom navigation menus within these templates for related pages. This is another powerful method of creating custom navigation menus but requires a little bit more work than using one of the plugins.

WordPress is a very powerful piece of software and unless you are after specific CMS related functions only provides by software like Drupal or Joomla, WordPress is more than adequate for most of your needs to manage content.

Anything that is lacking in its CMS functionality is more than made up by it’s ease of use and simplicity of installation. If you are after a simple to use CMS system then WordPress may be ideal for your needs.
