What does an SEO do? They just follow the basic methods of increasing the backlinks of sites. They don’t do anything more. Then why should we hire an SEO for getting our sites ranked high in Google? That’s because these kinda works may take a lot of time and efforts. These are simple tasks – but at the same time, boring and time consuming. You may find SEO’s that do these kinda works for pretty cheap prices. And if you deal with things this way, you can use your free time in a much better.

The time which you would have otherwise used for doing SEO works can now be better spent on writing content for your sites. Content is King – and it’s that which will drive traffic to your sites. The ranking of your site in various search engines will decide the amount of traffic that you’ll be getting to your sites. But ya, do you think, a site which ranks high but with poor content be having regular visitors? On the other hand, if your site is with quality content then they’ll even bookmark it and will be wishing to come there on a regular basis for reading more wonderful content.

So, it’s always a better idea to hire an SEO. They would be doing things that you might be already knowing. But still, if you want to better utilize your time, then hire an SEO -let him take care of the SEO works of your site.They’ll be using a lot of tricks and methods in order to get you tons of backlinks. If you have been to a webmaster forum like DP, v7n, Netbuilders etc, then you’ll surely be knowing what is a signature. For every post that we make, we’ll be able to promote our signature links. So, if the total number of our post count is 1000, then our signatures will be seen in 1000 places – in other words those signature links would have got 1000 backlinks!

Backlinks are one of the key aspects that decide the page rank of a site. And for increasing the page rank, webmasters buy signature links from others members. At DP, a maximum of four links can be placed in the signature space. So, at DP, through every post, you can promote 4 signature links. And if you want to make some money out of it, then you may sell signature spots.

How much will we be getting by by selling signature spots in webmaster forums? The price is decided by the reputation of the member and through the number of posts the member has made. According to the current situations, if you are with 3000 posts in DP, then you’ll be getting about $15 from one signature spot. Its tough even deciding on where to begin with discussing link building with all of you but it’s definitely something that needs to be addressed amongst all of us bloggers. Link building is the single most important aspect of blogging apart from your content. We all already know that content is absolute king when it comes to blogging and you won’t retain visitors without good content, and you also won’t see too much search engine traffic. If you have your content figured out and you got a steady stream of traffic beginning to pick up on your blog then you might be considering a link building campaign. There are lots of ways you can build links as a blogger and all of them I feel are vital to maximizing your exposure. If you only focus on getting one type of backlink then you’ll be missing to be much exposure that you could otherwise be getting if you just planned your campaign out. I always make sure I have a solid plan written out before I begin any link building campaign, and I also accompany the written plan with an excel sheet to record the data. I like knowing how much I do each day so that I can add it all up at the end of each month to see how my campaign did and to see if I noticed any results. If I notice results that for the better then I usually keeps the same plan for the next month minus a few tweaks. If I notice that the results have worsened from previous months then I will re-look through my data and make needed changes. Having everything written down allows for it to be a lot more organized and a lot more effective.

There are tons of ways to naturally attain links for your blog and you need to try and incorporate as many of the different options as possible when working on link building. Link building is a constant trait of a blogger so make sure you’re willing to spend at least a half hour each day building links before you begin blogging. Building links I find is the most strenuous part of blogging, but it needs to be done so either you need to spend the time doing it yourself or you need to hire someone who can do it for you. Hiring someone isn’t always that bad, but typically you shouldn’t hire anyone to work on your blog before its making profit because you don’t know if it will even make money. I generally will wait until I see some traffic and a couple conversions on a blog before I really start pushing the link building and content.

Importance of Directories for Bloggers

A lot of people in the online business say that directory submissions are played out and not worth there weight and gold anymore. I disagree with this completely though and I feel that directory submissions are basically mandatory for bloggers. Directory submissions won’t help bring in direct traffic to your blog, but they do build your backlinks up fairly quickly and therefore boost your SERP rankings. You’re much better off taking your time with directory submissions and not doing them all at once. You’ll notice a brief increase in SE traffic from submitting to directories quickly, but if you take your time and only do a few everyday then you’ll notice a more steady flow of SE traffic. There are both free and paid directories that you can submit to and I personally don’t use any of the paid directories. Either I feel there not worth the value or in some cases just too costly for a blogger to spend on directory submissions.

Instead of spending money on directory submissions I simply submit to five directories everyday that I haven’t used before and this way I’m getting a guaranteed five backlinks each day for my blog. Google will notice that backlinks are being built everyday on a consistent basis and most importantly the links will seem naturally built to Google which is vital. When you submit to too many directories at once you run the chance of Google thinking that your submissions were done through automation which would hurt your SERP rankings. Being completely natural is the only way for you to go when building links to your blog and that’s why submitting to only 3-10 directories daily is ideal.

Since you’ll be submitting to so many directories there isn’t really a need to list any here because you’ll end up finding them anyways. There are regular directories, blog directories and niche directories, now you’ll want to submit to all three types of directories on a regular basis. Regular directories allow any type of site from almost any category you could imagine, blog directories only accept blogs and niche directories will only accept sites/blogs from the niche that the directory is about. I find that blog directories and niche directories hold good value so you should seek these types of directories out first and then move on to regular directories. There are hundreds of directory lists with thousands of directories on them which you can find easily on the internet. One of the best resources that I use for finding directories is DirectoryCritic.com which always has an updated list of directories. They also have niche directories so it’s a site worth checking out.

You’ll notice that some directories take awhile before accepting your submission but that is fine and don’t expect them to do it in one day every time. Directory owners are usually busy approving and rejecting hundreds of submissions each day so sometimes they won’t get to yours for awhile. One last thing that you need to know about directories is that some will require a reciprocal link and some won’t. I personally only submit to directories that don’t need a reciprocal link unless it’s a good blog directory or niche directory. There isn’t any reason a regular directory should ask for a reciprocal though and generally when I come across ones that do I skip them.

Getting traffic is not something impossible. If you have time to spend online for your sites, then you’ll be getting traffic free of charge. First of all, you should make the habit of reading blogs regularly. This will make you comment on posts. This in turn, will give backlinks and traffic to your sites. This is just one of the many ways to get free traffic to your sites.

I know you’ll be having a lot of other methods in your minds. But don’t go for spamming – it’s not good in the long run – it can even create a bad impression on your sites as well. Why should you be doing all those spamming works, if you can get traffic easily, the natural way. Online communities can bring in a lot of traffic to your sites. People have a natural tendency to visit others sites. And this is something which we should make use of. You should be staying active in various online communities helping others and interacting with others. You won’t be feeling as if you are doing these things for driving traffic to your site. Bloggers constantly are working on building links to there blog and you can believe on many webmaster forums there are bloggers discussing whether or not links can be built to quickly on a blog. I tend to believe that as long as you’re building natural links to your blog, then you won’t be penalized and I haven’t seen any evidence to show me that bloggers have been punished for building natural links too quickly. The problem is that some bloggers use unethical techniques or automated software to build links and these are the people that are punished. Any type of link building that looks unnatural to the search engines will usually result in your blog becoming banned from that search engines index. Being banned from Google could ruin the whole blog and you might need to start over again on a new domain if it happens so try to make sure you only use ethical link building techniques.

If you feel the method is dodgy then don’t do it for your blog, instead test it out on another domain you own and see what happens. This is how I find out if many of the services offered around webmaster forums are worth it or not. If it bans a new blog then I don’t really care and its lesson learned for cheap, but if you use the service on your good blog first then if it’s a shifty service you might be in trouble with the search engines.

As long as you follow basic rules then you will be fine when building links. For instance many bloggers are good at writing content and therefore receive a lot of link bait, which results in a ton of backlinks very quickly for the blogger. The search engines don’t punish the blogger for this as it’s a natural form of link building. If you use an automated program to submit your blog to a thousand directories then you might need to be a bit concerned about Google and the other search engines banning your blog.

If you think your site might be banned then check the index of the search engines to see if your blogs pages are still appearing in the search rankings. Also check your stats to see if there is a big dip in the search engine traffic, because this either means you’re in the sandbox or banned. If you’re in the sandbox this could be because your domain is new and therefore you’ll need to wait a few months to regain your search engine rankings. In the meantime you should build more backlinks to your blog though.
