Hi, how would we know if the theme is capable of being viewed in a mobile device?

  2. 77webstudio June 7, 2013 at 4:08 pm #

hi armando, great question. when looking for themes, check to see if they are “responsive”, which means the theme will respond/resize to different device window sizes. i have a number of vids showing step by step how to create a responsive website. vids include: “mystile” and “artificer” (both free themes), “buro”, “superstore”, and others (premium themes). thanks for watching! hope that helps.

I actually been doing the wootique theme im not sure if that one is or if I have to add a plug in. Ive also wanted to see if I can change the price ribbons on the image and everytime I write too much the add to carts are not lined up with the other products. Sorry to ask so much but is there a way to add a background ima on the left and right side of the site ?

hi armando, thanks for your comment. wootique is not a responsive theme. there are other vids in my channel, however, that show step-by-step how to create a responsive website using free responsive wordpress themes. i have other vids for premium themes as well. the two free responsive themes are “artificer” (good for arts + crafts sites) and “mystile” (gorgeous, modern, clean design). the good news is that with wordpress you can change the theme and keep your content intact. i hope this helps.

p.s. yes, unfortunately with wootique youhave to keep titles short since the space is limited. please see my note below. thanks for your comment!

re: your Q on twitter about how to change product order, yes you could do that a couple ways. one way is to change the publish date of products, the other way is to go to the products page, and click “quick edit” for each product, then add an order number in the “order” field, then click “save”. cheers!

By any chance would you happen to know how to get the site online, i know on your video you purchased the host and domain first then started to create the site well im actually using xampp to make my computer into a website server just to see how its turning out before i purchase the host and domain.

hi armando, there’s a great post on this at tutsplus [dot] com/tutorials/hosting/migrating-a-wordpress-site-from-a-local-server-to-production. i would check out that post or google “how to migrate wordpress from xampp to a live server”. meanwhile, i’m adding this topic to my list of future vids. you could also call hostgator directly, i’m sure they could walk you through the steps. hope this helps!

I am regular follower of your tuts. Thanks a ton for generousity and great help you are extending.

I have one query. How to create filters and apply them. For example. if a site of yellow pages is being made and there are various categories like Auto, Finance etc. Now suppose if there is a need to filter listing in all categories from one particular city like “NewYork” so that data only from city “NewYork” is displayed.

How can this be done ? Kindly reply :
