Blogging For Money- Find a WordPress Tutorial

Blogging For Money? Find a WordPress Tutorial

The WordPress blogging platform is quite possible the most popular software for pro-bloggers and newbie bloggers alike. Now the difference between “”wanna-be”” blogging for money bloggers, and the pro-bloggers who make consistent money with their blogs – is that the pro-bloggers know how to use their tools!

WordPress is a powerful online marketing weapon – in the right hands! I think most blogging professionals will agree that  there is no more versatile or user-friendly blogging software than WordPress.

Until you learn exactly how to use the functions available in the software, you won’t realize the potential you have in your hands.

With available free plug-ins and free WordPress themes, you can have a truly spectacular web presence, and it won’t cost you hardly anything at all.

Now, of course the “”Pro-Bloggers”” already know this. But if you’re a “”Newbie Blogger””, then I’m here to tell you that you’re not too far away from being a money-making professional blogger, if you learn how to use WordPress effectively!

Before you begin your blogging for money adventure using the WordPress blogging platform you will have already learned about “”keywords”” and “”niche markets””, etc.

So, you should already have a business model in mind, knowing the keywords you are planning on targeting, as well as knowing how you intend to monetize your new blog.

But in my humble opinion, the most important thing you can learn – is how to use the WordPress blogging platform software.

There are so many things you can do with WordPress that it becomes a little scary and confusing for the new blogger.

You can find forums and articles, free websites, and even WordPress video tutorials that will help you to understand your new WordPress blog.

The more knowledge you have, the more likely you are to succeed in your blogging for money efforts.

In conclusion, there is only one certain way to succeed at blogging for money using WordPress… And that is to understand the WordPress software as well as you possibly can.

If you are going to be a welder, you have to know how to use a welding machine, and all of the tools that go with it.

If you’re going to make money as an auto mechanic, you better learn how to use the tools and equipment in an auto repair shop.

And if you’re going to be a professional blogger, and succeed at blogging for money – you better learn to use the tools of the trade. You better find a good WordPress Tutorial!

The most important tool for the Newbie WordPress Blogger to learn, is the WordPress blogging software itself.

How to Install WordPress Themes1

How to Install WordPress Themes

One of the most popular CMS systems going around the world today is WordPress. Much of it’s success is down to ease of use, and how beginner friendly the whole platform is. This ease of use also extends to installing WordPress themes, but sometimes you need a bit of a hand.

Starting from WordPress Version 2.7 onwards. You can now install WordPress themes straight from your admin section. Once logged in into the backend, go Appearance –> Add Themes. From here you can search through WordPress own back catalogue of templates. After choosing one it is just a few simple clicks and follow the steps to install it.

However you may not always be able to find the template you are looking for through this catalogue. Often it is hard to gauge just how well it will look on your site from a tiny thumbnail. In instances like this you can surf around the web looking for free WordPress themes.

Once you find a theme you like, you will need to download it to your own PC. It will likely be in either RAR or ZIP format, so you will need a unzipping tool. WinRar is free to download if the file has a.rar extension. Once unpackaged, you will need to FTP/Upload the files to your own webhost. Most webhosts put your files into the “”public_html”” folder so that is a good place to start. If your WordPress installation is in the root directory, you should be in the right place instantly on connection, otherwise you will need to navigate through the folders.

You then need to navigate through to the themes folder. The directory tree goes something like: public_html –> *WordPress installation folder* –> wp-content –>themes.

You can upload your unpackaged theme to this folder.

Then it is is a matter of logging back into your admin panel. Going Appearance –> Themes and activating your new theme. If on this screen you cannot see a thumbnail picture of the the theme you just uploaded. Try doing a refresh of the page by pressing f5 on your keyboard. If it still doesn’t show, make sure that when you uploaded the new theme, that it was placed into it’s own folder. If this still doesn’t resolve the problem you may have downloaded a dud package and you can either try downloading it again, or finding another theme.

Learning how to install WordPress themes just becomes second nature after a while. Especially once you work out the WordPress directory structure. Plus don’t forget that once you settle on a nice looking theme, you rarely change it again!

The Importance of choosing the right WordPress Theme

The Importance of choosing the right WordPress Theme

Once you have set-up your WordPress blog one of the first things everyone does is chooses the theme for their blog. You don’t need to keep the same theme and can change it anytime you would like. In the beginning when your blog is new I would just use a free wordpress theme that is related to your niche. There are hundreds of different free wordpress themes out there that you can use and many of them are very well done with great graphics.

As your blog starts to get older you’ll need to determine whether or not you want to keep using the free wordpress themes or if you want to adapt a custom wordpress theme to your blog. Normally what will determine this is whether or not your blog has any traffic or revenue. If you have traffic and are making some money off of your blog then I would recommend getting a custom wordpress made for your blog. Once you have a custom wordpress theme it’s like jumping up the ladder in blogging and makes you almost like royalty. Most readers will stay on custom theme blogs longer than other blogs as well because when you use a free wordpress theme people see those everywhere, but when you adapt a custom theme your readers will have never seen any blog like yours before.

WordPress themes have come down in price over the past couple years and you can get a great custom wordpress theme for under $200. This isn’t a small investment for a blog that isn’t making money and isn’t a very wise investment either. If you have traffic on your blog though, and making some money off your blog then spending $200 won’t seem nearly as bad. It should also help increase your traffic and revenue so it’s a wise investment in some situations. Make sure you have established traffic and revenue before spending money on any theme though, this is because a lot of blogs will never make any money. The last thing you want to do is spend a couple hundred on your blog and it never make any money.

If you look around the blogosphere you’ll notice that most of the established and authority blogs all have custom themes that look amazing and unique. It helps to retain traffic and also assists in increasing your return visitor traffic. If you’re a designer and coder then you can most likely make your own wordpress theme and if you can do this then you should definitely do it for all of your blogs. You don’t need to wait for traffic and revenue if you can do the work on your own time because it isn’t costing you any money.

When you decide to implement your own custom wordpress theme to your blog make sure that it stands out and is unique. You don’t want to spend money on a theme that looks similar to another theme because that defeats the purpose. The purpose of a custom theme is to stand out to your readers and to retain the traffic you build to your blog. Try to add some new features to your theme that you can’t find on other blogs or try changing the layout of the conventional style and making your own style. Always make sure that you use a custom logo or mascot for your theme as well because this will help brand your blog, especially a mascot.

As you can see the importance of your wordpress theme is very important and there are many reasons you should be considering when choosing a theme. If you’re choosing your theme for looks only then you aren’t doing enough. You need to think about how many people are doing that as well, because many do and end up with the same free wordpress themes. If your blog can afford to invest some money into it then I would first spend it on a custom wordpress theme.

A custom wordpress theme will also help you sell your blog if you ever decide to sell it in the future, and you’ll be able to fetch top dollar for your blog. So your themes is more of an investment then anything else, but if money is tight then wait until your blog is making money before spending money on a custom theme. If you’re using free wordpress themes then you should consider switching your theme every month or so, this is so that your readers don’t get bored of the same theme. You should try switching your theme with a newly released free theme each month as then your visitors will be less likely to have already seen the theme.

How to Find Free WordPress Themes

How to Find Free WordPress Themes

One of the benefits of using WordPress for your blogs is that you can easily change the layout of your blog by changing the theme. There are many free WordPress themes, or free blog templates, that are available. You can also choose to have a unique theme designed for you. In addition, you can also purchase a pre-made theme.

A WordPress theme is a collection of files that will create graphics for your blog. This provides a type of skin for your blog, almost the way a book cover will change the look of a book. By choosing a theme that reflects the subject of your blog, you can make your blog more appealing to your visitors. It can also make your blog much more memorable.

WordPress has two themes that come with the basic installation of your blog. These themes are very simple and are a very generic design.

WordPress has their own theme directory which contains over 500 themes and the number is growing. When you look at the directory, you will be able to see a list of the most popular themes. You will also be able to see a list of the newest themes that have been added. Still another section will show you themes that have been recently updated.

To easily find a theme that goes along with your blog, use the Search feature at the top of the page. Type in a word or phrase and you will be shown the themes that go along with those search criteria.

WordPress encourages each theme designer to come up with their own installation instructions for their theme. When you select a theme, be sure to read the directions for installation so that you would be able to use the theme correctly.

Another option that you will see in the same section where you will see the different themes is an option for headers. This is slightly different than choosing a theme because it does not affect the entire blog page, but it is simply a different graphic at the top of the blog. You can use something like this if you want to keep a clean, crisp area for your text without any clutter.

One thing to keep in mind is that you do not only want to choose a theme that will be aligned with your subject matter, but you also want to consider the purpose for your blog. If you have a blog that is for business purposes, it is best to keep a theme that is either business oriented or is somewhat plain. You want to avoid whimsical designs (unless whimsical designs would be a perfect complement to the subject matter of your blog and your business).

Remember that you can always change your theme later. There are plenty of free WordPress themes to choose from, and it is very easy to switch from one theme to another. Be adventurous and try something different with your WordPress blog.
