How to easily edit your WordPress theme without scripting

A video tutorial on how to edit and change your current WordPress theme without doing a single bit of scripting (which is nice for the lazy people out there like me!) Tutorial for downloading FireFTP: dsblog.orangehorizon.net Psdtuts (Photoshop tutorials): psd.tutsplus.com All you need is a way to recieve and send files to your site (I use the free FireFTP add-on for Firefox), any picture-editing application (I use Photoshop), and an ability to search for images on Google!

Hey I noticed you have a splash page before your site, how did you do that?

When I installed WordPress, I installed it into my /blog directory. If you have it installed there or move it there, you can make and upload a “index.html” file to your home directory using either your FTP or else File Manager on CPanel. My page is only a few pics I made in Photoshop pieced together with uber-basic HTML. I’m lazy 🙂

    Hi,

Thank you for the video, it is really cool. With fireftp, to login and access files it requires a host name. I am currently using wordpress for my blog

What must I type under the host area, in order to continue using fireftp?

    Thanks.

@amasweetie1 @amasweetie1 You can view some documentation on your question here: en.support.wordpress[dot]com/com-vs-org/
Is your blog hosted by WordPress, or did you install WordPress to your domain using a hosting site (like GoDaddy or BlueHost)?

UPDATE: If you haven’t found a solution for your Mac yet, try Cyberduck! I’ve been using it for a while now and love it. And it’s free from their website.

nice tutorial, but there is a way to edit the themes the different way. It’s easier and faster. We have a product that automates the work with code. Do you think our video is going to be interesting for your audience? If yes, then I’ll add a video answer later.

ur funny man thanks for this. gotta quick question. how did u hyperlink the buttons ?

  12. coolioman9606 February 23, 2012 at 12:01 am #

If you mean the four circular buttons on the top of the theme, it’s actually built into the particular theme. Some themes include a “Links” section under the “Appearance” tab of the WordPress Admin panel where you can select any pages you’ve made on your blog to link to. However, the new version of WordPress includes a “Menus” section if you click on the appearance tab where you can make menu items link to whatever you choose, check it out!

[in addition:] The “Menus” option doesn’t work with all themes, though. My particular theme is too old to work with the new function, but newer/recently-updated themes should work with it. Just make sure to note that so you don’t get mad wondering why it won’t work!

Obrigado pelo comentário construtivo. Este vídeo é chamado de “facilmente editar o seu tema WordPress sem scripts” por uma razao. Eu nao fiz altera o layout o porque que não é “fácil” e deve editar o script para fazer isso.
